Here We Go Again By Abdol Moabery

As we entrench ourselves in 2023, the first full post-pandemic year, I’m aware of the potential impact this may have on my business and the global economy. So, in 2022, I made my team aware of the struggles that may arise throughout the coming year. I’m used to dealing with crises in my sector, and although navigating through them may seem intimidating, we can survive and thrive with the right attitude and approach. Here are some tips I’ve found beneficial when leading my team through tough times.
Keep Calm and Communicate: When a crisis strikes, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and react impulsively. Believe me; sometimes, even I need to be talked off the ledge. However, as a leader, I need to remain calm and think before I act (sometimes, this is the most challenging part). This way of thinking sets the tone for my team and helps me make better decisions. Moreover, transparent and open communication is critical. I do my utmost to keep my team informed about what’s happening and what the plan is. This helps build trust and ensures everyone is on the same page.
Empathy: During a crisis, it’s essential to understand that everyone is going through their own struggles and may be feeling overwhelmed. As a leader, it’s my job to support and encourage the team. I show empathy and let my team know that I understand what they’re going through. This helps to boost morale and increase motivation.
Adaptability: Crises often bring about change and uncertainty. As a leader, I must embrace these changes and be adaptable. I am open to new ideas and willing to pivot my strategy as necessary. This helps me and my team stay ahead of the curve and find new opportunities in adversity. I cannot stress the danger of rigidity enough.
Lead by Example: In times of crisis, people look to me for guidance. Therefore, I must be a role model for the team by following the best practices and leading by example. I have to show them that I am always ready, willing, and able to roll up my sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done.
Focus on Solutions: Instead of dwelling on problems, I get my team to focus on finding solutions. Encouraging my team to develop creative ideas and be open to new approaches tends to invigorate them. This mindset helps us all stay motivated and find new ways to overcome obstacles and create opportunities.
Leading through a crisis is not easy, but with the right approach, it’s possible to come out on the other side stronger and more resilient. In fact, GA Telesis has come out of every crisis a better company.
Remember my rules: keep calm, communicate, show empathy, be adaptable, lead by example, and focus on solutions. With these tips, you can help your team navigate through tough times and emerge unscathed.
